OA SEA Devises Joshua Leadership Program to Accelerate Growth
Hastening efforts to expand the regional General Office with more full-time staff and interns while laying the leadership foundation to support church growth, Olivet Assembly of Southeast Asia churches are urged to adopt the Joshua Leadership Program (JLP) where both the General Office and ministers will co-work proactively to groom the next generation of leaders in the region.
Rather than being bounded by the growth timeline of registered members in the Word and relying on their personal initiative to volunteer themselves to serve in various church ministries, JLP serves to provide multiple training tracks for members to respond to the Word on-the-go by exercising their spiritual gifts under the direct mentorship of ministers and GO staff.
The training tracks that are planned to be developed in the initial phase include the evangelist track, Bible teacher track, designer track; and media & publications track. Each training track is anticipated to include track-related Bible lectures and workshops in addition to having weekly tasks to be fulfilled. Additionally, members-in-training will be required to submit their weekly progress reports and reflections which will be evaluated to identify areas for improvement and for mentors to pray alongside them.
Through JLP, participants of the evangelist track are expected to be involved in street evangelism and planning for outreach programs while Bible teacher track participants will be equipped with the knowledge to prepare Bible lectures and deliver them effectively, in addition to leading cell groups. Participants of designer and media & publications tracks will work closely with each other to design flyers and banners, managing their local church's social media accounts and writing news of mission progress that will be then submitted by their church ministers.
Members-in-training that show strong credentials in their local church's training tracks and meet the requirement of committed membership will subsequently be invited for a short-term internship opportunity in the regional GO departments of missions, education, design and media & publications, ranging from a period of a week to a month. Eventually, full-time staff positions at the GO may be offered to committed members who performed consistently throughout their local church's training tracks and the internship period with the GO.
Commenting on the potential of JLP, the General Office shared, "JLP is birthed to shorten the time to breakthrough in raising leaders both for the local churches and GO. It is a time for us to be proactive in grooming current members by bringing the training right to their door step, instead of waiting for regional leadership trainings that are dependent on members' common schedule and availability. Though many registered members may be still young in faith, but we should set up faith in God and equip them with ministry skills on-the-go as they study the Word regularly, rather than only begin after they became committed members."
