Hong Kong Mission Launches Street Witnessing Project in Tsim Sha Tsui

Olivet Assembly in Hong Kong has launched its street witnessing project, which was held in Tsim Sha Tsui - the central hub of Hong Kong's shopping district. The event was met with delight and drew many from the local community to watch and even join in the time of worship.

In Tsim Sha Tsui, near the Hong Kong Cultural Center, the street team engaged in a time of praise, singing and dancing, and the public responded by gathering around the team, some even singing together.

"The atmosphere was very good," one volunteer said. "Many people came around and sang with joyful faces."

Even though Christianity is ranked second in religion among Hong Kongers, only 6.5% of its population identify themselves as Protestants. Though a minority, due to Hong Kong's history of British influences, most charter schools are either Christian or Catholic, giving Christianity a strict and dogmatic public image. Public engagement is a proven and effective tool to present another side of Christianity.

The street team leader commented afterwards: "This was an excellent event, not only for the public, but also for regular church members to learn how to share the gospel with the public, and to serve them through various ways."
