Worldwide Churches Celebrate Day of Pentecost 2017

Across the world, churches celebrated the day of Pentecost by offering services that taught on the arrival of the Holy Spirit as promised by Christ during his ministry. Several regions held retreats that gathered hundreds of members to gather together in fellowship as they sincerely prayed while experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit.

The retreat in New York City was held with the theme from Acts 2:17 "I will pour out My Spirit on all people." Several lectures were delivered on the topics of sin, justification through Jesus Christ, sanctification with the help of the Holy Spirit, and the future glory and the Kingdom of God. The lectures refreshed and reminded those who attended of the powerful history of salvation that God has prepared for all people. Regional retreats in the United States were also held in Los Angeles, Washington DC, and San Francisco churches.

Services were also held in Rwanda, Egypt, and other African churches. In particular, the Pentecost in Kenya was preceded by a graceful Sunday school service that gathered teenagers and children from the surrounding community and taught them in the grace of the Lord. The service was graceful because it was taught by the new Sunday school teacher, who is eager and thankful to be serving the children and teaching them the Word of God.

In the Philippines, members gathered in Manila to hold a three-day retreat before concluding with the Pentecost service. During this time, members received grace and could fellowship together through various activities and eat meals together amidst the lectures and Bible studies.  At the conclusion, attendees shared their reflections and could comment on the grace the received through the messages. It was a touching time in which several people could share how the Holy Spirit had worked to open their hearts and receive great grace.

On this day, families and church members could reflect on the grace of God through the fulfillment of the promise of the Holy Spirit and the blessing that came down through the prayer of the early disciples. Many testimonies arose the word of God changing the hearts of people and delivering them from their sins. Thank God for the wisdom and guidance that is given through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Not by Might: The Call to Lead Through the Holy Spirit and God’s Word

In His Great Commission, Jesus commands us to make disciples-not simply to inspire a single moment of conversion but to lead others into a committed, lifelong walk with Him. As Reformed theologian R.C. Sproul wisely reminds us, "Jesus' lordship encompasses all of life."
