Churches Prepare Pentecost Events, Anticipating Transforming Power of the Holy Spirit

2017 Pentecost

World Olivet Assembly Churches are preparing worldwide to hold retreats during the time of Pentecost to gather and pray for the Holy Spirit to be present and active in their lives. As the apostles experienced the fire of the Holy Spirit descending upon them at Pentecost, churches are seeking to use this time to gather many people and spread the good news of the gospel and invigorate the prayer life of those attending.

Churches in South and Southeast Asia are preparing for their retreat by focusing on how best to retain the newcomers that attend church for the first time. They hope to ensure that new attendees are followed up with and shown incredible love as Jesus commanded. The churches have prepared special welcome cards and outreach flyers to increase the message of their Pentecost service as much as possible in the weeks leading up to the event. Finally, they aim to involve newcomers in fellowship activities and to invite them to be a part of the church family to build close relationships with all believers.

The Russian region is preparing their Pentecost retreat program with the intention of looking like the early church described in the book of Acts. They have held conferences together with countries in the region and expressed they wish to catch this vision of a church on fire with the Holy Spirit and to be committed to prayer and repentance during this time. They are anticipating a powerful movement of prayer during this time.

The New York Immanuel Bronx Church has launched a promotion campaign for the Pentecost retreat that will be held over two days at the local church, uniting all of the churches in the Northeast Region of the United States. Utilizing social media and group event sites they hope to draw a large crowd and contact many people who are interested in listening to the gospel message during the retreat. The theme is from Acts 2:17, "I will pour out my Spirit on all people." The retreat will be held jointly together with the New York City Youth Evangelical Fellowship chapter as they invite current Bible study students from local universities.

As Pentecost approaches, all regions are moving forward with prayer to prepare their hearts to receive the Holy Spirit with thanksgiving and grace. May this Pentecost be a time to renew hearts and build the faith of believers to build the Kingdom of God together as many come together to hear the gospel.
