Latin America Held Major Leadership Conference, Brings Transformation to Continental Mission
From February 22-26, the Olivet Assembly of Latin America held its continental leadership conference in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, a monumental gathering that sought to transform and revive mission on the whole continent.
Over 70 leaders from all countries of South America and Central America, representatives of the national Olivet Assembly and other major ministries attended the conference.
The program for the conference consisted of key lectures, continental and sub-regional conferences, planning meetings, mission and ministry presentations to organize, transform and revive mission throughout the region.
During the mission conference, Leaders studied the first eight chapters of Paul's Epistle to the Romans. Rev. David Jang, President of the World Olivet Assembly, delivered the study.
The messages emphasized the importance of the Lord's work of redemption. Paul says that Jesus Christ carried our sins and died, giving His life as a ransom for our sins. Though we were once slaves to sin, Jesus has set us free by paying the price for our transgressions on the cross. And now for those who serve as missionaries, their most important work is saving people from sin through faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In addition, continental and ministry leaders attending the conference gave presentations during the conference concerning their vision, goals, plans for development, and strengths of their respective mission fields.
International ministries that included Apostolos Missions International, YEF, Olivet Teen Mission, Elim, and Jubilee World shared their vision and work to leaders in Latin America.
The 5 sub-regions of Olivet Assembly in Latin America (Mexico, Caribbean, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina) also presented their work and plans for the future to understand the current situation of local mission and share hope for the future of the country.
Several resolutions were taken to bring mission in Latin America to the next level, including opening a seminary in Latin America to equip leaders and missionaries in the region, and creating a self-sustaining system for each country in Latin America through business-as-mission initiatives.
Latin American leaders will continue to hold a series of follow-up conferences to work on each resolution throughout March and to organize the work according to regional and local levels.
