Riverside Opens Theological Seminar Series to Chinese Students

Theological Seminar in Riverside

Olivet University is offering a series of theological seminars to Chinese students at its Riverside campus. The seminar will be led by Dr. Rachael Mak and cover the theology from the patristic period to the modern period, highlighting theologians and their contributions.

The non-credited seminar, which will be given in Mandarin, will provide Chinese students with a sound theological foundation in their mother-tongue, helping them to improve in their study of theology.

The seven-week seminar series will give students a broad picture of Christian history, and among the topics to be discussed in the hour-long classes, students will learn about the patristic period, the middle ages and the renaissance, the age of reformation, the modern period, the methods of theology, the sources of theology, and division of Biblical theology.

Dr. Mak recommended theological resources to students, such as "Christian Theology: an Introduction" by Alister E. McGrath and "Theological Turning Points" by Donald K. McKim.

Moreover, she emphasized the importance of returning to the Bible and never putting knowledge above the Bible, as learning to examine theology through the Word of God is an essential requirement to becoming a Bible scholar.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit would guide the seminars and that a new generation of leaders among the Chinese would be equipped to serve God and His church.

In Christian leadership, the temptation to depend on human strength is constant. Leaders may trust their education, experience, or strategies to carry out the work of ministry. God’s Gift and Our Response: The Cycle of Grace, Gratitude, and Worship

The Christian faith is marked by a unique and profound rhythm: grace, gratitude, and praise. Called to Make Disciples in All Nations

In His Great Commission, Jesus commands us to make disciples-not simply to inspire a single moment of conversion but to lead others into a committed, lifelong walk with Him. As Reformed theologian R.C. Sproul wisely reminds us, "Jesus' lordship encompasses all of life."
