Philippines Church Lecture Series Cultivates Scripture Reading Habits

Leadership Training in Manila, Philippines

Towards deepening the interest of congregants in the Bible and cultivating beautiful habits of studying the Scriptures, Manila Immanuel Church has commenced a seminar series on reading the Bible.

The program is coordinated by the church's education ministry, which has been making preparations to deliver lectures on the following topics:

1. Why Read the Bible?: The Importance of Knowing the Truth
2. Overview of the Bible: The Medium and the Message
3. Reliability of the Bible as Word of God and Guide to Life
4. Reading the Gospels' Witness to the Person of Jesus

During the first seminar on 'Why Read the Bible?', the congregants were challenged to see the importance of developing the habit of reading the Bible. Congregants were warned against following the half-truths and false teachings in the world today, and came to understand the importance of the Bible in that it leads to Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Each seminar includes a time for questions and answers, which gives congregants a chance to interact with the speaker and present their questions about the Bible, before finally gathering in small groups to share what they learned through the lecture.

The seminar series is particularly important for the growth of the church in the Philippines, which has a largely Roman Catholic populations. Many Filipino Christians lack healthy habits of reading the Bible and ministers have seen an increase in the their congregants interest in studying the Bible.

Churches hope that the ongoing seminar series will help many congregants to develop a habit of reading the Bible in their daily lives, ultimately leading them into a deeper relationship with Christ and proclaiming His Truth in this fallen world.

In the journey of faith, we often find ourselves eagerly seeking to fulfill the Great Commission, to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth, just as Jesus commanded his disciples. However, in our fervor to carry out this mission, let us not overlook a crucial commandment given by our Lord Himself.
