2018 New Year Service Exhorts the Faith to Witness Change
On January 1, The 2018 New Year sermon was delivered by Rev. David Jang the World Olivet Center in New York. The message was from Joshua 1:1-8, Isaiah 61:1-3, and John 2:1-10.
"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left,that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Lawalways on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:7-8)
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners, (Isaiah 61:1)
And the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now." (John 2:9-10)
"In this day and age, A church is in the many challenges. The heart of this challenge lies in trying to modify, ignore and break away from the Word of God," said the Rev. Jang. "Let us be a people who keep the Gospel firmly in this wave of secularization and meditate on the Word day and night, not only to preserve the gospel and guard it with our lives."
"God make the ones in Christ receive glory in the end. God will surely make 2018 a better year than the one before. Let's live meditating on this beautiful world in the new year," he concluded.
